Invitations

I had a lot of great help from my friend and MOH, Julie, for my invitations.  I had decided a while ago that I would make my own invites, but wasn't sure what style, and what would be feasible without being too difficult to make.  Julie helped me to come up with a bunch of designs and we went through a number of prototypes before we decided on the final idea.

My wedding colours are going to be pink, green and brown ( I added the brown in there later so that it would make the wedding look more like a Fall wedding, and not too Springy).  I found the perfect Japanese Chiyogami paper at The Paper Place on Queen Street West.  This was the most expensive element of the invitations.  It has all three colours, and is in a cherry blossom pattern (I later decided to use this motif for other things like place cards and my cake).

I designed the wording and format of the card and asked a printing company (The Printing House at Dufferin and Lawrence) I use for work purposes if they would print my invites for me.  They agreed, and gave me a really fair quote.  They also agreed to cut the card to size and everything.  When I picked them up and wanted to pay, the owner said that they were an early wedding present and didn't charge me a thing!!!  I even had to print about 10 more later, which they gave to me for free even when I insisted on paying.  They were super cool about it all!

All in all, I made the invites (about 80 of them) for under $300 (including 80 pearl coloured envelopes) and what's even greater is that they are unique and made by me and MOH.  It took us a little bit of time to cut the Chiyogami paper, but after that it was pretty easy.  I used UHU glue roller for the ribbon (any other glue bled through, and I couldn't find double sided tape that was thin enough).  And I used double sided tape to tape the paper.

All in all, I am super happy with my invites and can't wait to send them out!

This is not the greatest picture of it, and it doesn't do t
hem justice, but just to give you an idea...

Accessories

Lately I've been obsessing over accessories for the wedding.  I had decided to go with hot pink for the accessory colour since I wanted something different than the usual white or off-white.

I had such a hard time finding shoes that I liked and that fit me.  I have wide feet, so I needed a wide shoe.  I don't know if you've noticed, but generally shoes that come in wide aren't the prettiest.  So I have bought the pair that I've posted here and I am hoping that I can stretch them.  I got them for... get ready for this...$29.99... at The Shoe Company but they look a lot like the styles that I was looking at from Stuart Weizman and Christian Louboutin.

I love my pink clutch.  I got that at the Shoe Company too.  It was $24.99, but I got it for half price because of a point card I have with the store.

So next, it's the jewellery.  I think I want long dangling earrings.  I am not sure about the necklace... I figure I should go with something simple...I'll post a picture of my wedding dress and see if you can give me any suggestions.

I should have started blogging a while ago...

So I have been saying for a little while now that I should start a blog about my wedding planning ups and downs. I have been able to save money on a whole bunch of stuff, as well as getting a lot of great ideas from friends and family for my wedding. I'm a little late, but I can go back retroactively and show the final products. If anyone is reading this, I hope you get some ideas from me, and if you have any ideas, I would love to hear them.
